Chess Board in Curly Maple and Quartersawn Cherry

This is a chessboard in curly maple and quartersawn cherry. The playing surface 1-7/8″ squares. The boarder is about 1″ thick curly maple with a band of cherry. Cherry splines in the mitered corners. The playing field is raised above the border 1/4″. The thickness is 1/2″. The solid surface was laminated to a piece of 3/4″ plywood and then wrapped with the border. The underside has a solid walnut panel laminated to hide the plywood core. The board was assembled with Fish Stick glue from Lost Art Press/Crucible Tools. Finished with Sutherland Welles Tung Oil Varnish, Low Luster. 8 coats. This board is for sale. Price is $800 and includes shipping. Send a note through the contact us page if interested.
