Square coffee table

- Project: Square coffee table
- Project Category: Custom furniture and objects
- Completion Date: March 2024
Project overview
- Brief description: Square coffee table
- Can be designed in any size or proportion – square, rectangle, trapezoid, paralellogram; rhombus, using any wood species. Can also be painted in which case I would use something like maple or poplar or something not quite so expensive if a painted finish is your jam. This one happens to be 48″ square with a bottom shelf. The amount of storeage height was maximized becuase of its intended use for games – board games, dominos, jigsaw puzzles, etc.
Details and detailed images

- Materials
- Primary wood species: Maple and poplar
- Finishes used: Whitewash finish
- The entire piece is joined with mortise and tenon. Top is affixed with figure 8 connectors. Bottom shelf rests on glue blocks and is held in place with couple screws. Rails/stiles/legs are all 1/5″ thick squares. Top and shelf are 3/4″ thick. Center cross support not visible underneath the top. Very sturdy. Can take the weight of a human or child no trouble. Would advise against using it as a dance floor, though.
